Dr. Paul Cornelius Alston a native of Godfrey, Illinois was born to the late Gene R. and Patrean I. Alston. Through the Alton Public School System, he received his formal education and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1992. He holds an Associates of Arts degree in Liberal Arts (1999) and a Bachelor’s degree (2003) in Psychology from Saint Leo University. 

 

Following his tenure at Saint Leo University, Dr. Paul completed course work at Norfolk State University (2008) in their Masters of Arts in Urban Education and Counseling program. In his undying thirst for education, Dr. Paul received his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Saint Thomas Christian University in (2013). He is married to First Lady Carita Alston, a native of Southern California and together they are the parents of Kanetria, Breneisha, Patrick and Diamond and the grandparents of Rian. In 1994, Dr. Alston accepted his call into the ministry under the leadership of Dr. Jimmy L. Smiley, Pastor of Trinity Missionary Baptist Temple, Inc. in Hinesville Georgia and was licensed as a minister. In 1996, he and his family were transferred to Newport News, Virginia while serving in the United States Army and there joined Shiloh Baptist Church. In 1998, he was ordained as a minister after being found faithful of serving the Lord in various capacities in that local church. Dr. Alston was ordained as Pastor in 2004 and founded Next Generation Family Worship Center in January 2005. 

 

An entrepreneur, a business owner, Dr. Alston is also the CEO of several 501-C3 nonprofit entities that are sanctioned under the auspices of the church.  In addition, he serves as the Chancellor of Next Generation Christian Learning Center and Bible College that offers Christian Leadership training, education and bachelors and masters degrees to the body of Christ. In 2014, Dr. Alston will be consecrated into the office of Bishop and will serve as the State Bishop of Virginia under the leadership of Apostle Larry B.
